Laguna Colorada, Árbol de Piedra
Date: 10.01.2022
Elevation: 4278 - 4600 m
The next day was mainly filled with long car rides in the dessert areas of the southwest of the country. The landscape was incredibly wide and packed with lots of rocks and huge mountains. During the trip, we had the chance to meet some fancy animals such as llamas, alpacas and viscachas that were located just next to the road. In the afternoon our driver took us to see the Árbol de Piedra „Stone Tree“ that was formed by the wind and has its name due to its similarity to a tree. Our final stop before reaching the next hotel was the famous Laguna Colorada, where we were able to see many flamingos. The size of the lagoon was extremely wide and its color was orange/red which made it truly unique compared to the others we saw before. We guess that was the main reason for the fee we had to pay to visit this place.
