Sol de Mañana, Hot springs Chalviri
Date: 11.01.2022
Elevation: 4800 - 5000 m
On our last day of our tour we had to wake up at 4:30 am as we had many activities planned. Without having breakfast, we took our things and set off on a trip to the very south of Bolivia, right next to the border with Argentina - there were several attractions waiting for us! After 2 hours of riding, we arrived at Sol de Mañana, a geothermal area that stretches over 10 km², between 4800m and 5000m in altitude. It was definitely a unique experience, because we have never seen such landscapes before. We were surrounded by geysers and at one point it seemed as if we were on a completely different planet. Soon after, we moved to a place called Chalviri, where hot springs were waiting for us that contained 30 degrees hot water. It was an amazing felling, since after geysers, we were completely freezing, so jumping into hot water warmed our bodies. After having a well-deserved breakfast we drove towards the very south part of Bolivia to see the Laguna Verde and Laguna Blanca. On the way we also crossed the Dalí Desert and saw the Valley of Rocks. All in all, the 3-day trip was fantastic as we could have a deeper insight into the Bolivian landscape that is undoubtedly unique and obligatory for every tourist wishing to experience peaceful nature. After returning to Uyuni, we managed to get on the bus that took us to our next destination- La Paz.
